MILLICENT YOUNG | Il Viaggio: Castello 925 Project Space

Overview
In her use of humble materials, Millicent Young castes lyrical abstractions as timeless artifacts. With wood, horsehair and repurposed metal, Young conveys the story of the human journey from the known to the unknown and her work reveals an ethos of care forming the possibility of healing.

Millicent Young's sculptures convey the fragmentation that arises from our contemporary condition. The works respond to specific events of breakdown: the collapsing biosphere, war, displacement, and the loss of language, place, and relationship. Young meets these events as matters of the soul - where collective history and personal story become conjoined. In her use of humble materials, Millicent Young castes lyrical abstractions as timeless artifacts. With wood, horsehair and repurposed metal, Young conveys the story of the human journey from the known to the unknown and her work reveals an ethos of care forming the possibility of healing.

This special solo installation in the Castello 925 Project space will close with a finissage reception on Sunday, September 8, 18:00 - 20:00.
